How do I find my parents’ account login information to link their accounts?

Setting up your account with Carefull involves entering the usernames and passwords for the bank and credit card accounts you want to monitor. If your parents still are managing their finances entirely or somewhat on their own, start by asking them to provide you with the login credentials for their bank and credit card accounts or to enter their usernames and passwords themselves.

If your parents’ don’t remember their login information, check the following places for that information:

• Your parents’ desk or filing cabinets for a list of usernames and passwords

• Your parents’ home safe

• Storage boxes in closets, the attic, garage, etc. with financial documents

• Their computer for a file with a list of usernames and passwords

• The notes app on their smartphone

If you are your parents’ power of attorney, you may need to contact their financial institutions to let them know of your POA status and ask for help in resetting your parents’ usernames and passwords if they can no longer access their online accounts.
